Japan--The number of imports has fallen but increased in value

According to figures from the Japanese Ministry of Finance in 2006 the country imported 1.573 million tonnes of stone, valued at 100,522 million yen (around 865 million dollars).
These figures represent a decrease in the total quantity of 3.79 %, although the economic value increased by 2%. This is explained by the increase in the average price of processed granite imported by Japan, which has increased 6.2%.

In the ranking by country, China maintains its market leadership, with a share of 88.71% which continues to grow year-on-year, while Italy, India, Spain, South Korea, Greece, Germany and Turkey have reduced their imports, giving way to an increase in the share of Portugal and Brazil.
